CZECH REPUBLIC 1998 - 2008, perspectives from an immigrant child The immigrant's world is deconstructed and recontextualized in this multimedia, multi-platform exhibition that thrusts the unsuspecting visitor into an intimately claustrophobic tenement apartment. Photographs hang on walls, clothes lines and in digital frames. An old hand-operated slide projector and television set provide their own referential images. Projected movie fragments also crowd the walls, while studio-recorded and found sounds fill the space, luring visitors to different "rooms," where furniture, personal articles and sundry items provide an eerily lonely feeling. According to Bibiana: "The space (generated from flooring materials, artificial ceilings, furniture) provides the setting for the internal world of the person inhabiting it--which in turn takes the visitor to more abstract places, particularly memory, time, love, relationships, self."
